Abstract
Financial markets are a vital sector and a significant contributor to the national economy. They also serve as a source of revenue for the state budget and play a crucial role in economic development. However, due to their substantial financial returns, many market participants have exploited them to generate illicit profits through manipulation of securities prices. This manipulation aims to achieve illegal gains by influencing the trading of securities, thereby harming the national economy.
Securities market manipulation involves actions by some traders to intentionally create a discrepancy between the price of a security and its value. This generates illicit profits at the expense of other traders and has detrimental effects on the national economy. Despite the seriousness of these manipulations, the Iraqi legislature's response has not been sufficient to address and mitigate their impact. To comprehensively address the legal framework governing securities market manipulation, this study is structured into an introduction, two sections, and a conclusion. The first section examines the nature of securities market manipulation, while the second is dedicated to its effects; the study concludes with a summary of findings and recommendations.
