Abstract
The research addresses the future of the United Nations in light of the international changes in the international system, in which the United States of America has emerged as the sole dominant power on the international scene, in many cases violating the rules of international law and the principles of the United Nations, which has led to the international community’s confidence in many of the principles upon which the United Nations was founded being shaken. These serious violations have become a threat to international peace and security. As a result, several possible scenarios have emerged regarding the future of the international organization. We have concluded that the most acceptable scenario is the continuation of the United States’ hegemony and that reforming the United Nations is almost impossible in light of the current international situation.
The research will be divided into three sections. In the first section, we will discuss the transformations in the international system and their impact on the United Nations. In the second section, we will address proposals and projects for reforming the United Nations. In the third section, we will examine the obstacles to reforming the United Nations and its future prospects, in addition to the conclusion and sources.
