Abstract
Personal status matters are of paramount importance in any legal system. Legislation strives to draft its texts clearly and soundly, free from drafting flaws and ambiguity, given their connection to the sensitive and crucial affairs of individuals in regulating their private matters. These matters regulate pivotal and decisive aspects of individuals' lives, such as marriage, divorce, alimony, wills, inheritance, etc. All of these relate to the organization of family life, which inevitably raises numerous problems in case of dispute. Therefore, legislators must be meticulous and precise when drafting texts related to personal status. This research will employ an inductive, analytical, deductive, and comparative approach to examine the extent to which the Iraqi legislator has succeeded in this amendment by drawing upon the legal experiences and principles of comparative law. We will follow a scientific plan consisting of two sections to document our observations on this amendment.
