Abstract
The use of nuclear energy is one of the most prominent features of scientific progress in society, due to the enormous potential it provides in various fields, most importantly the production of electrical energy, medicine, agriculture, industry, etc. The peaceful use of nuclear energy has become a broad field of international cooperation, especially after the world realized the danger of misusing this technology in a way that threatens security and also threatens the health of workers. Many countries have adopted national mechanisms aimed at localizing this technology and developing their legislative frameworks to ensure its safe use. This includes Iraq, which has emphasized in its recent legislation the importance of the peaceful use of nuclear energy, particularly in the fields of electricity, public health, and the treatment of incurable diseases. And improving agricultural crops, but this peaceful use may not be without challenges. There are severe radiation risks and difficulties in disposing of nuclear waste, in addition to the possibility of this technology leaking to irresponsible groups. This places the responsibility on the Iraqi legislator to establish precise and balanced regulations that achieve benefits without compromising public safety.
