Abstract
This research shed light on one of the main topics in the science of inheritance, which is (al-Awl), where it defined its origins and tried to explain the origins of its issues, with reference to the differences between the five schools of thought in it and mentioned their evidence, then followed it with a statement of the prevailing opinion after discussing the evidence, and finally compared it to the Iraqi Personal Status Law
The science of inheritance is unique in that Allah  has taken over its rulings with His Most High Self, and there is no doubt that contemplation and study of it is of great importance, for this science is of great importance, how could it not be when the Noble Prophet  made it half of knowledge, and it has priority over being forgotten and taken away (for it is half of knowledge, and it is the first thing to be taken away from my nation). The ‘awl is one of the most important topics of the science of inheritance, the researcher tried to shed light on mentioning the date of its first appearance and clarifying what is counted from it and what is not counted from its issues from the perspective of the four schools of thought, then the reality of ‘awl in the Ja’fari school of thought, while citing the differences between those schools of thought and discussing their evidence and clarifying the prevailing opinion as required by scientific fairness
