What is meant by security fragility is security instability, as the security environment may witness several factors that affect its stability and strength, such as terrorism, organized crime, military conflicts, unemployment, and poverty. All of these factors can threaten the security stability of a country and reflect negatively on the outputs of its government. As for the term sustainable development, it means achieving progress at all levels, especially economic and social levels. Without compromising environmental resources, while ensuring that current and future generations benefit from these resources, and this is what will be studied in the Iraq model by linking these challenges with the causes of security fragility that could affect sustainable development and the rights of future generations.
The research is based on the hypothesis that the instability of the Iraqi security environment has a fundamental role in the sustainable development process, as it is a challenge that the Iraqi government must confront and develop the necessary solutions to overcome and achieve a sound development process. This research was divided into two requirements preceded by an introduction and followed by a conclusion, recommendations and a list of sources. The first requirement dealt with security fragility and sustainable development (conceptual determinants), while the second was concerned with studying the impact of security fragility on sustainable development in Iraq and ways to address it.
