Abstract
In light of the escalation of the relationship between the state of conflict and competition over energy resources, the strategies of many countries have begun to deal with issues of energy, its security, and the development of their own infrastructure, as well as the formation of a joint energy system, as major geopolitical factors that determine the state’s influence and the extent of its influence. Energy represents an important element in determining policy directions. Thus, Russia was able to use it to achieve its external goals and increase its influence in Europe through the Nord Stream gas pipeline, which is an alternative to the Ukrainian gas pipelines, as well as a project to export Russian influence, not gas, to Europe, especially Germany.
The study seeks to demonstrate energy as a tool through its ability to influence and impose influence from a geopolitical, geostrategic and economic perspective, considering energy as a tool of power and a strategic weapon as well as a diplomatic tool that works to achieve political influence and enhance international competition to impose influence.
The problem of the study is represented in answering the following question:
1. What is the concept and types of energy?
2. What is the importance of the Nord Stream gas pipeline and the Russian-German role?
